Course Description
The AstroPsychology Mentorship Program is a personalized, step-by-step correspondence course in natal chart interpretation from a depth psychological perspective. Incorporating elements of Jungian psychology and various other models, the program involves specific, written assignments in combination with supervision by phone and email. Students will become familiar with astrology as a personality theory, psychological language, and diagnostic tool.
While much of astrology can be learned through memorization of proper keywords, mastery of the language requires a thorough understanding of its grammar and syntax. The primary value of the mentorship program is that it teaches the student how to think and speak the language of astrology. Relevant psychological concepts are thoroughly explained, as is the nature of symbolism and the art of chart synthesis. Through 24 Exercises and Assignments, students learn to interpret charts in a progressively more complex manner.
The program unfolds on three levels. In Levels I, II, and III, mentees read certain chapters in my Three Books, An Introduction to Astro Psychology, Essays in Psychological Astrology, and Depth Analysis of The Natal Chart, which are supplemented by MP3 audio files and additional reading materials. For each level, there are 8 written exercises fully explained in the course Learning Guides, making 24 assignments in all. Once completed, these assignments are sent back to me and reviewed. I then mail my response to the mentee. Written communications may also be supplemented by Phone Contact.
By the end of Phase III, mentees will be proficient in knowing how to interpret planets in signs, houses, and aspect, and how to track significators and dispositorships so as to reveal the overall plot structure of the chart. Transits and progressions are described in terms of psychological growth and development.
The bulk of the program will focus on synthesizing signs, planets, and houses into coherent sentences • identifying processes of motivation, cognition, and emotion in the birthchart • how aspects symbolize unconscious core beliefs • tracing motivational flows through dispositors and significators • aspect theory and the linking of planets into an intelligible story structure • karma and synchronicity • how early formative childhood experience is displayed in the horoscope • how the chart as a whole symbolizes one's personal mythology • and use of the chart as a diagnostic and counseling tool.
Students will also learn how psychodynamics, psychopathology, and healing are articulated within the astrological model, and how astrology can be utilized in counseling to facilitate empathy, enhance interpretations, and deepen therapeutic impact. Particular emphasis is placed on how the astrological chart symbolizes a life story capable of being lived on successively higher levels of integration. The final lesson deals with ethics, professionalism, and how to build an astrological practice.
The program is flexible in that students are allowed to proceed at their own pace. Students can begin at Phase I, II, or III depending upon their level of experience. However, it is generally advised that mentees begin at Phase I, as the program entails a complex, specific system that is best learned from the foundational level. The entire course is done via e-mail with the instructor, Glenn Perry. Students have the option of purchasing any level for $200 and doing the program on their own. Upon successful completion of the final exam, students receive a Certified Diploma suitable for framing.

| The coursework was extremely meaningful and the lessons gave me great insight into not only my life, but life itself. My days are filled with "ahas" thanks to your wonderfully insightful course. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the reading, tapes and assignments. | | | | | Leda Blumberg | | | | | I am reading your essays and they are brilliant. It's as though everything now makes sense and has tremendous profundity and purpose. I just love it and it opens doors of thinking for me that it seems I've just been waiting to go through. Thank you for all of it. | | | | | Phylis | | | | | I have learned more in six months of studying with you than I have in 14 years of studying Astrology. I'm not just being flattering, I mean it. I love your mind. | | Rebeca Eigen | | | | | I enjoy and appreciate your teaching style. There is a real richness and depth. You are incredibly articulate and have a wonderful command of the language. I'm enjoying listening to your tapes. | | | | | Roseann Pollack | | | | | I really have enjoyed Level 1 and 2 and want to continue with Level 3. As I have told you before, I think your work is brilliant, and you are an excellent writer! I really have enjoyed all of your very insightful and thought provoking comments...it is sort of like on-line therapy. | | | | | Suzanne Angioli | | | | | I am very impressed with the clinical utility of what I've learned so far and am anxious to move on to the next level. Also, I want you to know how impressed I am with your ability to construct a cogent and understandable system that can be learned by others. Having quite diligently studied most of the personality systems that western psychologists have cooked up, I must say that the sophistication and depth of your astrological model surpasses them. Also, having been a student of archetypal psychology for some years, I have found that the astrological model you teach is a profoundly useful bridge between archetypal psychology and the modern western psychologies. It seems to honor the truth and validity of both perspectives by integrating them nicely. Thanks, and I certainly encourage you to continue your good work, as it has much to offer. | | Rick Masters, M.D. | | | | | If I were ever tempted to think that Level 1 was too elementary and that I was above this level, I would have been quite wrong. At times when I was tempted to think that the language lessons were too anal, I came very quickly to realize that you really cared enough to teach astrology in the most correct and professional manner. It was difficult, at times, staying with the assignments, particularly those that concentrated on the different uses of our language. I am so glad that I did stay with it and I can now see how rich and wonderful this science really is when approached correctly. You have taught me that the proper use of language is KEY TO THE ENTIRE ART OF INTERPRETATION! | | | | | Roseann | | | | | In doing this assignment I am even more impressed with the richness and organization of your work than I was before. You have been able to represent, in words, the structure and nature of the zodiac and through your gradual explanations, replicate the unfolding of the chart, the process of the individual and the universe itself. Your work is more organized then any other I have read to date. | | | | | Anna Swora | | | | | The astrological syntax you teach enables the astrologer to formulate lucid, spell binding sentences that penetrate to the heart of the matter. Quite frankly, what I have read so far drew me to Astro/Psychology almost immediately. The writing is focused, clear, intense, and magnetizing. | | | | | Carlynn Williams | | | | | I am glad that my assignments are pleasing to you. I love working on them and am looking forward to the next one on planets. Your questions are awesome and so is the reading material - especially your book! I just bought a Walkman so I can listen to more of your tapes on walks. | | | | | Suzan Steinberg |
I have never enjoyed studying a course more -- not even my film courses in graduate school. Gary Stephens Return to Mentorship Program
